There is a great quote from Leo Busacaglia in his book Bus 9 To Paradise:
In reality we never lose the people we love. They become immortal through us. They continue to live in our hearts and minds. They participate in our every act, idea and decision. No one will ever replace them and in spite of the pain we are richer for all the years invested in them. because of them we have so much more to bring to our present relationships and all those to come.
Uncle Orv was one of a kind. While he was a very wise man, he also keep a fun, child like attitude. When we were on holidays as kids we'd visit his store. We loved his tall tales of the size of fish being caught in Round Lake with the lure we were buying.
He always paid attention to the kids when there were big gatherings. He'd leave the adults and take the kids in the back of his pick up for a fun bumpy ride up on Buck Hill that wound up at the General store for ice cream a Pure Spring pop.
If he came fishing with my cousins and I we usually caught something when we went to his special spots in the lake.
No one can match his ability to tease or string you along with a tale tall that you were never quite sure was real or made up.
He was a devoted and caring husband and father. He loved Killaloe and the area and was a true Christian who showed his faith through the way he lived and cared.
He and his family have always been so good to my family and I. Orv will always be a great influence on my life. Aunt Gerry, Cheryl, Sandra and Tress God bless and comfort you through this sad time. In the days and years to come you will find so many warm reminders of him
I thank God that Orv was in my life.

Geraldine and family,
You are in my thoughts at this time. I was always told that I was named after Orville and I have proudly carried this with me for 61 years. I remember all the times when I used to go to the store on Saturdays to watch TV. After we moved to Pembroke it was always a treat to go to Killaloe or to the cottage to visit. He always had words of wisdom or a story or a joke and was always welcoming to me as I was growing up. From time to time I still look through my parents old photo albums which are now in my safe keeping and it brings back so many wonderful memories. He will be remembered and will be missed. Aunt Geraldine and family,
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I will always remember the good times with Uncle Orv. I remember the good old days when Dave, myself and the Ristau boys would head into the store and buy the lastest fishing gear. Uncle Orv would guarantee they would work to catch the biggest fish in Round Lake. We weren't always sure if the stories that led up to the sale were completely believable, but we were always excited to get back to the campsite to try the lurers out. His sense of humour was unique. There will never be another like him.

Geraldine, girls, and families:
We were so glad that Marlene let us know about your sad news, Maybe we weren't able to be together a lot, but we have fond memories of your honeymoon trip out west; especially Orv chasing you G. with a recently dead duck. We have it on our movies. However, we know that he is in a far better place where he won't have pain. God has been waiting for him, and we know we all shall meet him again some day. God Bless.
Cousins out west- Della F, Loris S, Jennie, and Mick and Wilma

My condolences to the entire family. May you find strength in knowing that he is in a better place and will watch over you always. Many people will be able to share so many memories and laughs about Orvie. Being the first on the bus in the morning meant many chats before starting out on the bus run for the long drive to Barry's Bay.

My condolences to Aunt Geraldine and cousins Cheryl, Sandra and Teresa and families. Sorry i am too far away to return for the funeral but my thoughts and prayers are certainly with you. I will always be thankful for the advice and knowledge Uncle Orv was always willing to share with us. The piggy back rides at the cottage in my very young days are never forgotten either.
Sadly,
