Sheila Katz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2016.
Sheila Marilyn Katz October 20, 1945 - March 22, 2016 Sheila passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at May Court Hospice due to complications from cancer. From her earliest days growing up in Toronto, to her years raising a family in Mozambique and Costa Rica, to her days as a trade unionist with the Canadian Labour Congress in Ottawa, Sheila carried with her the indomitable spirit of social justice. She is survived by her loving husband and lifelong partner Chris and their two boys, Josh and Ryan, daughters-in-law Melanie and Erin, adoring granddaughters Georgia and Hazel, sister Helene, brother Marty, sister-in-law Deborah, and a long list of cherished friends. Her time on Earth was too short; she will be missed immensely, never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Ottawa, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, or to the "Latin American Working Group History Project" (via Canadian Jesuits International in Toronto).

It has been a long time since I have seen Sheila but her memory and impact resonate - and will, i am sure, for a very long time. Hers was an indomitable and inspiring spirit.

My thoughts are with her family who will take some comfort by the outpourings of love.
