Dennis Deveau

DEVEAU, Dennis Suddenly on August 16, 2010 at the age of 59. Beloved husband of Janina and dear father of Daniel and David. Loving son of Olga and the late Fred, he will be also deeply missed by brothers Steve, Peter, and sister Janet. Dennis was a union leader, lobbyist and community activist who will be mourned by trade unionists and political activists across the country for his tireless work in defense of working people's rights and social justice. He was a compassionate and courageous individual, inspired by a deep spirit of altruism. As a union leader, Dennis rose from the rank and file of union membership, retiring last year from his position as Legislative Director for the Steelworkers Union. Throughout his life his enthusiasm, commitment and support for social justice never wavered despite the number of health challenges he faced. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 1 pm at Beechwood Cemetery Memorial Centre Sacred Space, 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa.
