MacKENZIE, Harold Arthur
Ottawa, Ontario – Harold, 91, died peacefully August 15, 2012 with his three daughters, Jocelyn (Tom Huppert), Alison and Susanne at his side. Son of late Harry and Eva MacKenzie, Truro, NS, he is survived by his sister, Eileen Durkee-Cooper (Les) of London, ON, grandchildren; Stephanie, Adam, Alexander, Sophie and Matthew of Ottawa, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Gordon MacKenzie (Gladys) of Ottawa, John MacKenzie (Ginny) of Orillia and his brother- in-law Harold Durkee, of London. Harold proudly served in WWII as a Navy Officer on HMCS Uganda. Post war he had a successful career as a self-employed P.Eng. then worked for the Department of National Defense before retiring. A former MPP for Ottawa Centre, he was active in politics for many years. Dad loved being on the water, downhill skiing, dancing, flying his private plane, his many pets and was a member of the Masonic Temple, Ottawa Consistory 32 degrees. A very special thanks to his wonderful health care team at the PRVHC. A family service will be held off the shores of Halifax, NS.
