Maxine Cochran

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. - Maxine Richardson Cochran, 92, of Connersville, died Sunday evening, April 17, 2011, at Lincoln Centers where she had resided for several months.

Maxine was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Jackson County, Ky., to Frank H. and Rosa Sparks Richardson and moved to Connersville with her family.

She had been employed at area factories and retired from Stant Manufacturing following 38 years of service. Maxine was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher for many years and with many of the community outreach programs. She enjoyed being outside tending to her garden and flowers.

Maxine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby D. Rose and Mary of Anderson, John D. Cochran and Cathy of Richmond; her grandchildren and their spouses, Joelle Rose of Rapid City, S.D., Rachael Shepherd and Ronald of Carthage, Courtney Brooks and Timothy of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carrie Cochran of Lafayette; her great-grandchildren, Lindsay Jimenez and her husband Jorge of Spearfish, S.D., Benjamin and Jacob Shepherd of Carthage, Aidan and Darcy Brooks of Cincinnati; a brother, Donald Richardson and his wife Minnie of Irvine, Ky.; her sisters, Shirley Gabbard of Connersville and Geneva Zimmerman of Glendale; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Royce Cochran; her husband, Chester Norman Cochran, who died Jan. 11, 1971; five brothers, Frank Jr., Finley, Clyde, Boyd and Bonnie Richardson; and infant sister, Sheila Richardson; and two brothers-in-law, Eldon Gabbard and Paul Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor John Reynolds and Kim McHale of her church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or to Indiana University Alzheimer Research.

My sincere condolences to the Cochran family and friends. No matter at what age a loved one leaves,it is always much too soon. May your precious memories of conversations of the 'old days',her smile,her laughter,her caring and the love she shared with you,help you to endure. May you also completely rely upon "the God of comfort"(2Corinthians 1:3,4)to comfort you during this time of sadness. You are in my prayers.
