JACOB FRIEDLAND Jacob Friedland, 100, of Boca Raton, FL for the past 30 years, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away in Lake Worth, FL on June 22, 2011. Mr. Friedland served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Friedland received his Doctor of jurisprudence from St. John's University in New York City. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in July of 1934. Mr. Friedland was the first president of the Staten Island Builders Association, and the first president of the New York City Home Builders and past president of the New York State Home Builders and past Vice President of the National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Friedland was honored by President Lyndon B. Johnson when he attended the signing into law ceremony for the Department of Housing and Urban Development Act on September 9, 1965. He was responsible for building over 1,000 homes for the World War II returning G.I. War Veterans. Mr. Friedland and his wife, Lucille B. Friedland, created the Jacob and Lucille B. Friedland Endowment for Scholarships at the College of Staten Island and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Pre-deceased by his wife, Lucille B. Friedland; survived by his two sons, Stuart (Jacquie) Friedland and Brian (Diane) Friedland; his five grandchildren, Stephen, Douglas, Charles, Zachary and Stephanie (Jason) and his great-grandchild, Jillian and his brother, William (Joan) Friedland Services will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Rubin Memorial Chapel, 7340 Boynton Beach Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33437 (561) 853-3000.
