Ariana JACOBUS Obituary

JACOBUS, Ariana Victoria
Ariana Victoria Jacobus died April 3, 2015 in Delray Beach, FL by taking her own life. She struggled valiantly for most of it with the diseases of Bipolar disorder and addiction. Ariana was born December 15, 1985 in Dallas, TX to Lacy Jacobus and Mark Stumpf, and attended Coppell High School and Trinity University. She was a charismatic, brilliant light, who stirred the feelings of every person she met. A writer and a poet, she delighted in language, words, and rhythms, and she loved working at the Achievement Centers for Children and Families of Delray Beach as a grant writer. She was also a long time student of A Course In Miracles. She is survived by her wife Katharina von Heydekampf; daughter Evelyn Hertenstein and her father David Hertenstein; parents Lacy Jacobus and Robert Ficklen; brother Jack Ficklen, sister Tara Ficklen, grandmother Catherine Jacobus; dozens of loving aunts, uncles, cousins; and a multitude of friends of Bill. A private memorial service will be held on April 25th in Delray Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Achievement Centers for Children and Families of Delray Beach online at www.achievementcentersfl.org or 561-276-0520. As a tribute to Ariana, her family hopes that being open about her suicide may help others to cope with similar losses. Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach, (www.Lorneandsons.com) in charge of arrangements.

I remember Ariana best as a beautiful child who asked questions that reflected remarkable logic for a seven year old. Her thoughts ran deep. Today we celebrate the brave life she lived. Love to you all, Elena

I only met Ariana a couple times, but when I did she was easy to talk to and quick with jokes! I envyed that because I always have trouble coming up with the right words. Although I didnt know her very well, I can tell she touched many people's life's. Keeping Ariana and her loved ones in my prayers.

Ariana... I live in Ft. Lauderdale and originally from Midland. God Bless you. I hope you have found peace. With a world such as it is today, I can understand why things like this happen. Total despair. It's very hard to keep on keeping on. Please know that with this tremendous heartbreak, you will always be loved. To the family.. I am truly sorry for your loss.
