Stephen SADOSKY Obituary

SADOSKY, Stephen B.
Stephen Barry Sadosky, age 67, passed away July 12, 2016. Born March 23, 1949 in Hartford, CT to Marie Ouellette and Leonard J. Sadosky. He grew up in East Hartford, attended Penney High School and graduated in 1971 from University of Connecticut Engineering Program. He continued his career development with Knolls Atomic Power Lab supporting the "Father of the Nuclear Navy" Admiral Hyman G. Rickover's Naval Propulsion Program, and later advanced to nuclear operations training with Yankee Atomic and the Magnaflux Corporation. Steve's extensive experience in the nuclear industry spanned 30 years, from 1971 through 2001, including: engineering, construction, operations, quality programs and management with leading US firms and utilities. He was a highly respected and well known industry expert in Quality Assurance and Allegation Management for commercial nuclear power plants and related facilities. Steve's interests were varied and broad, as he excelled in ocean racing/sailing. Through the 80's he captained a crew of utility CEOs, racing in numerous regattas, including weathering through and placing 3rd in the Monhegan Island Race in 1988 after a dangerous overnight storm took out a large number of the fleet. He was strong and adventurous. His love of the water and all things marine led him into yacht sales and he had several brokerage offices in New England, then he launched Viva Yachts Inc. which he operated while still involved in the nuclear industry. He used his expertise in Quality Management and began importing many yachts from Taiwan at the time and became very involved with the design and production of his own line, Viva Yachts. In 1989, he married his wife Elizabeth, moved to Florida and continued to expand his yacht business, opening Atlantis Yachts, a luxury powerboat brokerage. His clients -- American, European, Asian and Middle Eastern -- became a reason for extensive travel. Often known as "The Mayor" by friends, he was generous with his knowledge of places to go and people to see. He was a terrific friend to many -- the guy who steps up to the plate, the skipper and the pilot. His main passion since 2008 has been flying. He piloted his own twin Cessna 414 and was a knowledgeable IFR rated pilot. But most important to Steve was his fervor for living, and sharing his energy, passions and love with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dalton, daughter Ann Desilets, sister Sharon Schatz, brother Lenny Sadosky and two grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00PM Saturday, July23rd at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, West Palm Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers please make all donations to TrustBridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.

Steve, you are sorely missed. Since the flight from JFK to Tokyo on which we first met in the 80's to inspecting new Viva Yachts in Taiwan with you and celebrating new launches with Crystal Champagne, to introducing you to new yachtsmen in Hong Kong (Remember Thunderbird Marine & Clearwater Bay Marina) you were alway upbeat, optimistic about the future and a great and generous friend. We always stayed in touch but could not spend enough time together.

Forever your friend, Paul Savage
P.S. Liz, My condolences. I'm sorry I missed the service, I only saw the obituary today.

Ginger and I will never forget Steve from our friendship during the 1980s. He was always full of fun and adventure. We sailed, laughed and played together. Steve was always the life of the party; continuously upbeat and a laugh a minute. Our hearts go out to Liz.who has lost so much.

Since we met in the 90s, I always thought "what a neat man, with such professionalism, integrity and also warmth."

It is such a shame that the good guys often have to go first. You'll be missed by everyone who had the pleasure and privilege of meeting you.

My heartfelt greetings to Liz and your whole family,

Tobias

Stevie, our younger years, as first cousins, were filled with many visits and outings at Grandpa Stanley Sadosky's Wilson home. Gatherings there always involved lots of food and laughter. You were right in the middle of it, with our other cousins. You and Uncle Richard Sadosky, were so much alike. You both always enjoyed telling your stories and getting everyone to have a hearty laugh with you. One last enjoyable time with you was for your Dad's funeral week. The whole family moved daily to celebrate at another of the families homes. You lugged along the boxes, filled with all kinds of liquors. We then just picked up where we left off the day before.

Liz, I am sorry we never did get to know each other better. Our lives were on different paths. But, you were never forgotten as being the soft-spoken, even keeled side of the two of you. You kept Stevie grounded in a good way.

He has been taken away from you too soon. Our thoughts of you and him will always be good ones.

Love,
Dan and Linda Palmer

I knew Steve from F45! His wonderful personality commanded attention and filled a room! He was always quick to laugh heartily and joke around with me He will be soaring around the heavens now probably doing the same thing! My thoughts and prayers are with his family now in which they can find peace and comfort knowing all the lives he touched and was a part of

Steve was the funniest, kindest and most generous friend one could want. He sometimes called me his half sister. We were first friends in Fort Lauderdale. We shared time in Europe, Las Vegas, Dubai and the islands.

He was there when I got engaged and and usher at my wedding. I will always cherish the memories or our time together. My husband also learned to love Steve as they shared their love of private flying.

He will be missed greatly! Our condolences to the family and especially Liz.
