Al-an, what-chyou doooing? Youuuu know better than that!
I find myself saying these silly catch phrases everyday in my life. Those phrases that just permeated my “Patti World” vernacular by Alan osmosis. Doooooh.
Alan, you became my brother by default after Mike went college. I’m happy that you were the fun one of the two but don’t tell Mike. You became my drinkin’, dancin’ pool playin’, concert goin’, Buffalo Bills watchin’, pigs playin, cards playin’ buddy (but NEVER my dime boy)…this list could go on and on and on. I will miss you, drinking buddy. I know that you will continue to watch over me now, just as you did back then.

"But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. In the time of their visitation they shall shine, and shall dart about as sparks through stubble" (Wisdom 3: 1-7)

Our prayers and hearts are with you in this very difficult time.
Sincerely,
Deacon Dennis Demes - Office of Diaconal Formation
Diocese of Palm Beach

Alan,
I know I only knew you a short time, but even now I'm paranoid if anyone across the gaming table even looks like they're going to throw a die after rolling several 1's in a row...thanks to you.

You were a good friend, a better roommate than anyone can ask for, a talented roleplayer and photographer and your wit and sarcasm will be sorely missed.

August 20, 2009

May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead.

This is a beautiful obituary, bringing tears to read. Alan was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. The donation to the ALS is a truly touching and romantic suggestion. Love and support to all his friends and family.

Alan... oh man... the only postiive side I can see to this is that you're finally reunited with Amy. You were hilarious at the gaming (dungeons and dragons) table, a reliable and "solid" friend, never afraid to speak your mind (making you so much more honest than most people).. these qualities and many more will make you very, very much missed. It's a cliche but a true one - the world is much poorer for your absence.

Alan, you brightened up every game and gave us so many lasting characters. The best one was you. I'll never forget all the inside jokes and how we ran every stupid saying into the ground ("Whazzzzaaaapp"). While I'm glad you were in our lives, I feel a gaping hole where you used to be. I miss you already, man.

As always I seem to be late in everything. Alan was always a good friend no matter what. Even though we had not been close in the last few years, no matter when I saw him it was like we had still been hanging out. I will always remember the RPG games and everything else. You will be missed...

Alan from Bryn-Alan! All the kids thought that was who he was. And he was, to them and to me. In addition,he was a voice I could hear, a person who had breadth and depth and feeling, and who enjoyed a high level of wit and camaraderie. He was a friend.

Al was the best, he was my friend from when I first moved to West Palm in '92; everything from D&D games to watching the Gators or Bills to swinging swords in Amtgard or the vampire games back at the carefree theater, to playing rock band where his drumming was on another level, everything he was involved in was brightened by his presence.

Alan, so many good times to share …I have no idea where to begin. You were a friend, a cohort, an accomplice, and a brother to me for nearly thirty years. You enriched my life and the lives of so many others with your wit and irresistible sense of humor... What else is there to say other than you will be deeply missed? I thank God for the time we did have and feel blessed to have been able to call you my friend.
