Hello, my name is Pamela Hamrick Behrens and want to write about my favorite RBHS teacher, Mr. Martin. Please, dear family, know how greatly he influenced my life. I truly wish I had contacted him but now speak to all of you who love him. I became his drama student and he brought my talents in the arts alive. I and other students performed (for him) at Palm Beach Community College...I performed Saint Joan and wanted to make him proud.
I was from a broken home and Mr. Martin boosted my self esteem; believed in me and I gained confidence in my intellectual abilities.
I went on to earn a BS Ed in Language Arts (secondary ed, of course, just like him) then my MA from the University of Alabama. Thereafter, I taught English, British Lit, World Lit, and other English courses.
Please know I think of him today and want his family to know how appreciative of him I was and am. He was my mentor and rock during 64-66. I will see him one day and recall those days we spent together.
In Christian Love, Pamela Hamrick (Behrens)
I pray his family receives this message.

Jeane and Family Members,
I had heard that Jim passed away last year, but I could never find the obituary in the newspaper. I see you are having a service this Wednesday, but I will be in Orlando caring for my grandson while my daughter takes my granddaughter to college. I just want you to know that from me that Jim was a dedicated educator and a perfect gentleman. He was loved by all the teachers at Suncoast. With sincere sympathy, Kay Carnes( SHS 1989-2004)
