Dear Debbie,
I want you to know how sorry I am to hear of Pep's death. I know his last few years were not the best as he suffered so much from the effects of skin cancers. Too bad we didn't know about sunscreens, etc. 60+ years ago. I also want you to know what a great person and friend Pep was to me. He was my first playmate, as we only lived a few houses apart on 27th Ave. North, now 17th Ave. We played on the arches that were on 27th and Dixie, we got into trouble when we set the woods on fire (playing with forbidden matches) next to the FEC railroad tracks on 27th, and I'm sure many other things I don't recall.
Pep was my hero! He could do anything he set his mind to - from playing an electric guitar to becoming the golf club champion when he decided to take up golf. He truly was a great athlete. He will be missed but not forgotten, especially by me. Sincerely, John Beane

Although I hadn't seen the Martin boys in many years, I have fond memories of them living two doors down from me on North K Street. Their mother Etta Mae was always so friendly to us younger kids. It was a great neighborhood right across from North Grade and the "boys" would play football in the street.
May he rest in peace.

The Martin Brothers of Lake Worth are legendary! As a boy Pepper treated us as equal to the adults. .25 cents bought 1 hour of raft time in the surf. He always had time to talk with us 'younger folks'. My father, former Lake Worth Mayor Jim Stafford, held Pepper in high regard. I concur; a great Lake Worth institution has been lost with Pepper's passing. Our condolences to the extended Martin Family from Down-Under in New Zealand.

I remember Pepper Martin from growing up in LW in the 1950s and frequenting the beach. I didn't know him personally, but you couldn't not know of him. He looked the way most of us young guys wanted to look back then, tan, muscular, confident.

Pepper was always there at the beach and we all grew up knowing him from childhood. He was a great guy and we will always have his memory at the beach and those who grew up around him will always remember him! Regards to the family, he fought a long battle.

Pep was a Lake Worth institution from the really good old days. I've never known a person who didn't like him. My condolences to his family.

Debbie, In 1960 we met Pepper at Lake Worth Beach, he was so nice to Noel and C.J. as the beach was not busy in those years. We never thought Noel would marry Sherri and that Pepper would be Jasons grandad. It is like a full circle, Love always Noel Joy Susan Shelly Jason and Noel, Elizabeth.
