Lt. HENNESSEY Obituary

HENNESSEY, Lt. John W.
"Jack"
Age 77, resident of St. Lucie County, FL became an angel in heaven on 4-16-2015 surrounded by his loving family. He lived a full life dedicating his career to the P.B.S.O. for 30 years retiring at the rank of Lieutenant in 2000. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends and had a deep interested in history as well as an avid love of cooking. He will be in our hearts always and cherished in our memories. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Wounded Warriors Foundation. Viewing will be held at All County's Del Lago Funeral Chapel, 131 S. Lakeside Drive, Lake Worth, FL 33460 on Tuesday 4-21-15 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held at a later date.

Still miss him, and I think of him daily. His memory is indelible in my mind. Some of the people I worked with and I still talk about him. He was a great man. Good teacher and mentor to recruits.

Lt. Hennessey was one of my favorite instructors at Palm Beach State College. He was very straight forward and taught students to be honest and dedicated to the profession. He stated over and over again to put family first and leave the job at the job and go home safe. Dedicate your time on the job to the job and leave the job to be with your family. His advice helped.

May God bless your family during this difficult time. RIP LT Hennessey

There isn't enough space here to express my admiration for Lt. Jack Hennessey. He taught me to be a good Corrections Officer. I learned from him, and he has been an influence in my life ever since. When I faced some tough crises in life, I could see him in the classroom and remember his words. He lives in me today. My admiration of this man and his family will never be forgotten. He helped me survive for over 25 years in a violent environment. Our lives crossed so many times during my career. I believe Jack saved many lives, and careers, by teaching us the psychological survival skills we needed. He was a proud Deputy, Father, Husband and had a heart of the purest gold. Thank You Jack, and thanks to your loving family who shared you with us.

I knew Jack when I was working jail crimes while a Detective out of the North Sub. This was at the old First Street jail. Jack was always a great help to me everytime I had to investigate a case there! RIP Jack.

Lt. Hennessey was an outstanding Lt. for PBSO. Although, personally I never work for him, as a Detective for PBSO/RP Deputy, I had the pleasure knowing him. We were involved with helping deputies with the Broken Star Fund, we initiated in the early 1980 by him and Lt. Johnson, when Deputy White Willie was involved in car accident on his way to work and PBSO insurance did not covered him from port to port. God Bless him RIP, and our condolences to his family.

So sad to hear... Lt. Hennessey was by far one of the most hard-working, ethical supervisors I ever worked for. He was a very special person and we loved him dearly. My husband and I have many memories with him over the years working together at PBSO. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, who he often spoke and shared memories of. I recently lost my father, who also shared so many of the same qualities I admired in Lt. Hennessey. We are so saddened by your loss...
