Frank MARK Obituary
Frank Herman Mark, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away January 7, 2016. He was born June 12, 1935 in Queens, NY, the first of three children, Carol Ann Mark (Charles) Schweizer, and Robert Joseph (Maureen Collins) Mark. After graduating Yale with a Doctorate of Divinity, served as a campus YMCA director of Washington University, Seattle for eleven years. He moved to a non-facility YMCA in Lombard, IL. He served seventeen years before becoming Executive Director of the facility YMCA in Northbrook, IL. He served seven years there before retiring after a diverse and satisfying 35 year career. He has enjoyed retirement in Lake Worth, FL for the past 20 years. Frank is survived by his second wife, Janet May Wold Berndt Mark; his daughter, Laura Elizabeth Mark (Keith) Morris and son, David Philip (Carol Ardaugh) Mark. Four grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Morris, Colleen Marie Morris, Ryan Patrick Mark and Emily Christine Mark. His step-children Gary Berndt and Gwen Helen Berndt (Jay) Sojdelius. His nephew Douglas Edward (Nancy Ann Warden) Schweizer, and niece Diane Lynn Schweizer Youngman. Robert Joseph Mark, Jr. (Carrie), Brian (Diane D'Anagelis) Mark, Karen Dorothy Mark (David) Spinks, Maryanne Mark (Lee Thomas) Palmese, James Patrick (Lisa) Mark and many (15) great nieces and nephews. The YMCA was not only his place of employment but remained in retirement his favorite place to exercise and socialize. He enjoyed the Y retirees and the many outings around Florida, symphonies, the theatre and world travel. Frank took enormous pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a loving, kind, faithful husband. Service will be held at Union Congregation United Church of Christ "the church with the blue roof", 5088 Summit Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL 33415 (corner of Summit and Haverhill) January 24, 2016 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church where he was a member will be appreciated.
