Lucille Clover Obituary

Lucille Clover, age 90 passed away on Friday, February 3, 2006 in Paradise, California. She was born January 30, 1916 to Viola and Monroe Woods of Bokoshe, Oklahoma. At the age of ten her family moved to California settling at the beach in Ventura. She and her three siblings spent some part of every day at the beach she loved throughout her life. At the age of thirteen Lucille caught the eye of Robert "Bob" Clover a native from Oswego, Kansas whose extended family had also moved to Ventura, just two blocks from her house. Bob promptly announced to his football buddies that Lucille was the girl he was going to marry someday, which he did just seven years later. Their marriage produced two daughters and sixty-three years of happiness together, much of it in Ventura County where they called Thousand Oaks, Lake Sherwood and Hidden Valley their home.
When the daughters completed college, Bob & Lucille returned to Ventura and the newly built harbor. A twenty-seven foot sailing vessel occupied much of their time with many trophies brought home from their Ventura Yacht Club sailing activities. During this time Lucille taught sixteen years of art classes to emotionally and educationally challenged children. Upon retirement the couple moved to Paradise to be closer to family.
They designed and built a home and garden where Bob was able to grow the many flowers which Lucille loved to make into floral arrangements. Their time was enjoyed sharing family and traveling. Lucille participated in her daughter's kindergarten and second grade classrooms reading to and with the children as well as assisting with arts and crafts projects. After Bob's death in 1999, Lucille joined the senior writing group at the Paradise Senior Center.
Lucille is survived by her sister, Liane Modla (husband Jim) of Florida, daughters, Claudia Lane (husband, David) of Monterey and Glenna Clark (husband, Michael) of Paradise; granddaughters, Laura (husband, Peter), Sherry, Tami (husband, Chris) and Christy (husband, Rick); four great-grandchildren; Holly, Spencer, William and Nathaniel. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Ann Jones and O'Dell Woods.
A family Celebration of Life will he held at a later date at the beach in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, a family request is made for donations to the children's section of the Paradise Branch of the Butte County Library, 5922 Clark Road, Paradise, CA 95969.
The funeral arrangements will be handled by The Rose Chapel Mortuary.
