David Benton Obituary

David Weston Benton, born April 17, 1927 in Pennington, Texas, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2012, at 4 days shy of 85. After serving his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, David enjoyed a career in the petrochemical industry as a millwright. On his days off, you could usually find him working at the farm or under the hood of a friend's car.

David is preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Mae Benton; sisters, Ruby Page, Lois Dominey, and Mildred Lee and brothers, Clell Benton, Norris Benton and Clayton Dean Benton. He is survived by wife Hildred Benton and children; Diane Benton McBee and husband Ron, Dan Benton, David A. Benton and wife Glenna, Dana Benton Zucha and husband Chris, Darrell D. Benton, Sharon Williams and husband Pat, and Sheila Cliburn and husband James. Left to mourn Mr. Benton's passing are grandchildren; Justin McBee, Jeremy McBee, Benjamin McBee, Natalie Whittington, Emma Newton, Nicole Warren, Luke Benton, Darcy Benton, Drake Benton, Weston Zucha, Sarah Halbardier, Patrick Williams, Natalie Herring, Dennis Cliburn and Alan Cliburn. Mr. Benton is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; Cole, Alyssa, Trenton, Ethan, Owen, Michael, Emma, Tyler, Kyle, Paige, Jonathan, Monica and Felicity and sisters, Audrey Durham, Ernestine Buffington and Bobbie Jean Best.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 5-7 at Rosewood Funeral Home 3939 Pasadena Blvd. A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10 AM at First Baptist Church of Deer Park. Pastor Dale Smith will officiate. Final interment will be on Monday at 3 PM at Pennington Cemetery in Pennington, Texas

I'm sorry to hear of David's passing. I worked with David for 25 years at Rohm and Haas. David was always someone who cared about his work and others around him. He always would have a smile on his face when you saw him...he will be truly missed....
