Florence Carwile Obituary

FLORENCE JUNE CARWILE 99, a lifetime resident of Corona, CA, passed away Nov. 12, 2010, just 6 weeks before her 100th birthday. She was born Dec. 27, 1910 in Corona, CA, daughter of Luther and Nettie (Anderson) Patton . She graduated from Corona High School in 1927, after which she attended Riverside Junior College, and went on for one year to the School of Business Efficiency. Florence worked as a Secretary for Security Investments Co., in Riverside, CA, for 10 years. She married Joel Allen Carwile in 1932, and had 3 children. Florence returned to work in 1952, at Lemon Products in Corona, division of Sunkist Growers. She retired after 24 years on 12/27/1975. During her retirement she belonged to the Women\'s Improvement Club, where she served as President in 1984-1985, the Pocahontas Lodge (a division of the Red Men), and the Adventure Club of Corona. She was a talented pianist and served many organizations as musician, as well as two local churches. She gave freely of her time and talent to anyone who asked. Florence delivered Meals On Wheels for 17 years. She was also an avid bridge player for 40 plus years. She loved spending time with her family, preparing all holiday meals well into her eighties. She began a tradition of renting a beach house every summer, and inviting over the entire family. She will be missed. Surviving are her three children, William "Bill" Allen Carwile, Mary Ann Carwile -Swift, and Judith "Judy" (Dennis) Carwile - Smith; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 Great great grandchildren . Services will be held at Thomas Miller Mortuary, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor J.T. Thomas officiating.
