Alma Hermans

1918 - 2011

ALMA IRENE (THOMAS) HERMANS 93, passed away of natural causes in Riverside, CA and into the comforting presence of the Lord on June 9, 2011. She was born April 21, 1918, in Norwalk, CA. She grew up in Chino, CA, and graduated from Chino High School in 1936. Alma attended Woodbury Business College in L.A. It was in college that she met her future husband, Harry Hermans. They married June 4, 1938 beginning their deeply sincere and fulfilling 61 years of marriage. Owning dairies in Pasadena, San Pedro, and Apple Valley, they grew their family to include five incredibly loved children and settled in Chino in 1962 where they were long time residents. After a long life, Harry passed away in February of 2000. Alma lived with family in Atascadero, CA for 10 years, spending the last 6 months of her life in Riverside with family. She is survived by her daughter Lilly Couch (spouse - Eddie), her daughter Harriet Boonisar (spouse - Peter), her son Don Hermans (spouse - Cora), her twin daughters, Linda Thomson (spouse - Kim), and Lorna Sytsma (spouse - Henry), and her sister Louisa Thorsheim. She has 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Memorial Service Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10:00am at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary, Riverside, CA, (951) 689-1441.
