William Jones

WILLIAM RANSOM JONES January 7, 1919 ~ October 22, 2010. Known as Bill to friends and family alike, he called Riverside his home since 1937. He rode the rails leaving Arkansas to find his future and fortune in sunny California. Bill met and married the former Gladys Marie Stratton who died in 2000. They were married almost 60 years and raised two daughters, Lyn Marie Graham of Georgia and Eda Diane Jones of Riverside, CA. He is survived by two grandchildren, Kimberly S. Graham of Riverside, CA and Katherine Marie Kelly of Byron, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Lance C. Graham, Ashley M. Graham and William C. Cox, all of Riverside, CA., Lauren Bettye Kelly and Kyle Quinn Kelly of Byron, GA. and one surviving sister, Cleda Bates of Phoenix, AZ. Bill was self employed in the automotive industry for more than 40 years and he also received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy having served in Okinawa at WWII. Bill\'s proudest accomplishment of many lifetime achievements was his membership and participation in the Riverside Masonic Lodge # 635 of which he had just recently received his 50 year pin. He was still an active member until just recently. A viewing for Mr. Jones will be held on October 31, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. and the service will be on November 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. both at Acheson & Graham Mortuary.
