Dorothy Segura Obituary

Dorothy Louise Monk Segura 76, of Beaumont, Texas died at Lufkin Memorial Hospital on February 8, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 22, 1930 in Port Neches, Texas to the late Benjamin F., Sr. and Cora Katherine Scott Monk. She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a young girl and joined the Baptist Church. She helped to establish the Caldwood Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. She graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas in 1948 and North Texas State University in Denton, Texas in 1951. Dorothy married Allen R. Segura, Sr. in the First Baptist Church of Beaumont, Texas. She taught 3rd grade at Pietzsch Elementary in Beaumont, Texas until the birth of her children. She taught piano lessons from her home. She played piano for various local churches. She was very active in her children's lives by being the leader in Cub Scouts and Brownie Girl Scouts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 4 brothers, Harry Monk, J. W. Monk, Dr. Oliver Monk, and Phillip Monk. She is survived by one brother, Dr. Ben F. Monk of Olympia, Washington; 2 sons, James Benjamin Segura of Beaumont, Texas and Allen R. Segura, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Lake Elsinore, California; 2 daughters, Judge Katherine L. Wilson and husband, Keith of Odessa, Texas and Dr. Laura Hebert and husband, David of Lufkin, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Michael Segura of Dallas, Texas, Candace Segura of Lake Elsinore, California, Dr. Brandy Segura of Sacramento, California, Jared Wilson, Jenna Wilson, and Jordan Wilson, all of Odessa, Texas, Lynn Hebert of Waco, Texas, Missy Hebert of Lufkin, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, February 11th, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. prior to service at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. Services will be Sunday, February 11th at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

I am sorry that her family had to lose her, but I am grateful that Dorothy is now free of pain, and at home and at peace with her Lord, Jesus Christ.
