Lawrence August Buchholz

RIVERSIDE LAWRENCE AUGUST BUCHHOLZ Lawrence "Larry" Buchholz, 87, of Riverside, died at home on January 15, 2010. He was born on August 20, 1922 in Chandler Township, Michigan to Herman and Anna Buchholz. Larry left the family farm at age 21, volunteering to serve his country in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 Radio Operator/Gunner. He completed 30 missions with the 95th Bomb Group in Europe and received the Distinguished Flying Cross for gallantry. Larry graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in business administration in 1950. He married the former Marian Zimmer in 1948. They had three children, a daughter Lorie and sons John and Jeffrey. Larry worked throughout his life in the transportation field. Prior to retiring in 1981, he was the Western Regional Traffic Manger for the General Tire and Rubber Corp. Larry married the former Pat Freedman in 1980. Together they started Carpet Pad Sales in Grand Terrace. Larry is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Lorie Terry of Ashburn, Virginia; sons, John of Newport Beach and Jeff of Murrieta; step-daughter, Jennifer Freedman of Napa; brother, William Buchholz of Pigeon, Michigan; four grandchildren, David, Rachel, Rebekah, and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and James. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24 from 5-8pm at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, Riverside with burial service at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, January 25 at 10:30am, Staging Area #3.
