Lou Ella Campbell "Louli" Russ

1919 - 2010

LOU ELLA "LOULI" CAMPBELL RUSS 65 year resident of Riverside, has died. Louli was active in community affairs. She was past president of the Poly High School P.T.A., 60 year member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, member of the Optimist Club, Victoria Club, board member of Hospice, Community Playhouse and Women\'s Auxiliary. She died at home on October 25 after a stroke. Louli, the youngest of 3 siblings, was born February 25, 1919 to John and Charlotte Pierce of Upland, California. During the depression years the family moved often and Louli graduated in 1936 from Huntington Park High School where she was active in drama and student government. She attended Santa Ana College where she met Jack Schilling. They were married in 1938 and had one son, Stephen. During the war years she moved to Riverside and worked as a bookkeeper for the County Treasurer. In 1947, she divorced Schilling and married Dr. Robert Campbell, a successful Riverside podiatrist. She remained active in the community, was an avid bridge player, a participant in Community Theater and member of the De Anza Dance Club. In 1995, after being widowed, she appeared on the T.V. show "Love Connection" and was soon after married to Clifford Russ of Riverside. Louli was admired by friends and family for her positive, loving attitude, her joy for life, her sense of humor and her adventurous spirit. She is survived by her son, Stephen; daughter-in-law, Kathy; four grandsons, Brad (Jinie), Ryan (Ali), Corey, and KC; and two great-grandchildren, Luca and Evie. Her loving companion and caregiver for the last two years was Maria Gonzalez. Services will be held this Friday, November 5th at 11:00 am at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Blvd. in Riverside.
