Erica Springstead Obituary
Erica Lynn Springstead, 63, of Port Townsend passed away June 8, 2011.
She was born March 9, 1948, in Vancouver, Washington, to Audrey J. Hudson and Robert L. Anderson.
Erica graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1966 and later attended Clark College.
She married Ted Springstead on January 2, 1979, in Roadtown, British Virgin Islands.
Erica was a Master Gardener, a gourmet chef and a runner, including running in the New York Marathon of 1989. She also was an avid cyclist and sailor, including a trans-Atlantic voyage in 1982.
Mrs. Springstead was active in the Rat Island Rowing & Sculling Club and the Tuff as Nails rowing club. Last month, the Rat Island Rowing club named a newly arrived, gorgeous wooden, double sliding-seat wherry Erica S. in her honor.
She also participated as a board member on Olympic Mountain Pet Pals.
Erica's many places of residence included Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; London; Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Saratoga, California; and Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Erica is survived by her husband, Ted Springstead of Port Townsend; stepdaughters Deborah Springstead of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Jennifer Rodriguez of Denver; sister Linda Jeannotte of Vancouver, Washington; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water Street, Port Townsend.

My best thoughts to you, Ted, and your family. Erica was a very special person to me. We shared a passion for gardening, and her equal passion for political issues always gave me pause for thought. I am very fortunate to have shared quality time with this strong, vibrant person.

Erica lived a life of adventure, positive thinking, caring for others and keen interest in everything around her. I'll remember her for our shared political beliefs and instincts. And I'll remember her for the way she brought the very very best out of a very very good man, Ted.

Even though we only knew each other for a short time

Erica has been my friend ever since the 7th grade @ Shumway Jr. High & thru high school graduation @ FVHS. She has always encouraged me to grasp the things that I wanted to learn in life, like tryin' to learn how to use the computer. I've got a lot to learn 'bout this yet. She also encouraged me to go on The Walk for the Cure @ our 40th reunion in '66. W/O her help that is somethin' that I would've never done by myself. Thank you, Erica for helpin' me to learn that there is alot more in life to learn.

I really loved her friendship with me. We enjoyed the Race for the Cure" walk back in 2006. You are truely missed Erica.

Erica knew how to live life to the fullest. She was a dear, life-long friend and we had so many wonderful times together! Erica and I were great friends in high school. She was soooo beautiful-thats why she was named most beautiful. She's always had the brain-the body-and -the soul. She always helped out putting our class reunions together. When I heard about all of her adventures and great times-travel-helping society-Oh what a wonderful life. She was not ready to leave-her family friends etc. We will always have her around our lifes with her spirit-God bless-Sandi

I will always remember my bus ride with Erica at the last FVHS reunion. After many years of not seeing one another, it was quite amazing how many interests we shared. I felt very drawn to a very vibrant and kindred soul. Our shared experiences in Yoga were such

dear erica
you will be missed and although we didn't see each other often, our friendship will not be replaced. thank you for the fun we had on the tour de france, when we met for the first time. the four of us bonded instanly and we had such a great time on our bicycles watching those amazing atheletes climb the mountains! good food and wine, great conversations. what a trip!! then the polar bears. the greatest trip of my life so far. thanks you so much for letting me join you. just wish duane had come along, but his loss. how amazing these creatures. we got to expeience them at face level as the momma put her face in the window. so special!!
