William Stein Obituary

Bill Stein passed away on March 1, 2014, after a short illness. He was 95 years old.

Bill was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn in New York City.

At the age of 18, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was sent to Seaside, Oregon, where he later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in China and the Pacific during World War II.

After the war, he married Eva Bradbard and eventually became the father of twin girls.

Bill was proud of his 21-year career in the Marines and rose from the rank of private to captain. He retired in 1959.

As a civilian, he worked as a school district accountant in California, where he remained until the death of his wife and then moved to Sequim to be closer to family.

Bill lived at The Fifth Avenue senior residence for 10 years and is remembered for his bright smile, generous heart and prodigious memory. He is sorely missed.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Stein and Sally Albiso; his son-in-law, John Albiso; and his grandson, Joseph Stein.

A celebration of his life is being held at The Fifth Avenue in Sequim later this month.
