On October 16, 2016, Charles "Bud" Foley peacefully passed away in his sleep at his daughter's home in Eugene, Oregon.
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Bud Foley attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and City College of San Francisco.
In 1953, he joined the Marine Corps, where he was a corporal in the 1st Marine Division during the Korean conflict. Bud was honorably discharged with decorations of Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
Beginning in 1958 and continuing for 31 years, Bud worked for Levi Strauss as a men's jeans sales representative. His job took him from San Francisco to Idaho, where he met the love of his life, Mim, and her two children, Mike and Irene.
After the birth of their first child, Charles K. Foley, Bud was transferred to San Diego, where he remained until his retirement in 1989. The family grew to include John "Jack" Foley.
Upon Bud's retirement, he fulfilled a promise he made to Mim 20 years earlier, and they moved to her beloved Northwest. After moving to Port Angeles, both became very involved in the community. Their friends, old and new, meant the world to them and filled their home with laughter and good times.
His loss will be felt throughout the Port Angeles community and the many places where his friends and family live. Bud was a true gentleman and will be remembered for how he stayed connected with people throughout his life. He remained close to friends he had in grade school, and he would often call and write letters to friends he was concerned about and loved.
Bud loved the outdoors and was proud of his Irish heritage, so much that he made two trips to Ireland- the most recent with his son Charley in 2014. He was kind and considerate with a positive attitude to the end, thanking those who cared for him. Even on his last day, he stated, "I am a happy guy. This is a good life."
Bud was preceded in death by his son Jack and wife, Mim.
He is survived by son Charley Foley of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Irene (Kevin) Alltucker of Eugene; son Mike (Pat) Deptuch; and his four grandchildren, who brought him great joy and whom he loved dearly.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 24, 2017, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 209 West 11th Street, Port Angeles.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for Art in Bloom, 1203 East Lauridsen Boulevard, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
