Wayne E. Wallett

1945 - 2016

SHERMANS DALE - Wayne E. Wallett passed away on June 28th, 2016 at the age of 70.
Wayne was a life-long resident of Perry County. He was born in 1945, the only child of Gurnie and Lenora (Rogers) Wallett. Wayne had a long and successful career in computer programming, working for IBM and associated contractors for more than 30 years.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, traveling often to enjoy the hunting, fishing, and landscapes of Pennsylvania, the Eastern seaboard, and Western states. He could often be found on the golf course playing scramble tournaments or rounds with coworkers and friends. When at home, he took great pride in improving and maintaining the portion of his parents' farm on which he built his family's home.
Wayne loved country music from an early age, learning steel guitar at 14. This love endured throughout his lifetime, earning him the opportunity to open for large acts, the chance to perform internationally, and the respect of the musical community. In addition to performing music, Wayne also operated a recording studio and, with the help of some good friends, completed his own instrumental project, Polished Steel, in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Joan B. Wallett, and his three daughters, Tammy L. Wallett, Lane A. Wallett, and Whitney D. Wallett.
He was the proudest supporter of his daughters' educations and extracurricular activities, helping both Lane and Whitney to college careers and graduate degrees.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to a charity of your choice, or share a special outing with your loved ones.
