Louis J. Hildman

1948-2016

Louis John Hildman formally from Waterloo, Iowa passed away on Sunday, 17 July 2016 after a 2-year fight with cancer at West Florida Hospital ICU.

He is preceded in death by John Louis Hildman (father), Burton Gilbert (step-father), Bob, Ron, Dave Gilbert (stepbrothers). He is leaving behind Wilma Hildman Gilbert (mother), Rebecca (wife) of 45 years, Heather (Daughter), Jeffrey (son), 8 sisters: Norma (Dave) Lemker, Helen (Jim) Wagner, Maryann (Rollie) Reinard, Kathy (Mike) Joblinske, Paula Hildman (Denny), Donna (Dan) Webb, Kim (Steve) Luebbers, Dawn (Dave) Neighbors, 5 brothers: Mark (Katie) Hildman, Tony (Sheri) Hildman, Robert (Kristy) Hildman, Troy (Susie) Hildman, Eric, a step sister-in-law Jolene Gilbert and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lou graduated from Columbus High School in 1966 and joined the United States Navy a year later. He served 20 years and retired as an E-7 Parachute Rigger. He then worked as a contractor for several companies at NAS Pensacola for 25 years. Lou also held positions in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He was also a member of the American Legion and local Union Hall 2777. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite charity.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Dear Aunt Billie, Hildman cousins, and Louie's family,

I wish that I could be with you all at this sad time. Sending you my love and lots of hugs. I am thinking about and praying for you all. May your memories of Louie bring you comfort. You now have a very special angel watching over you all. It comforts me to think that Louie and Pat are up in Heaven talking Navy/Air Force and airplanes. They both seemed to love the Florida life. I hope it will comfort you, like it does me with Pat, to know that on any given day, especially a snowy cold day in the north, that the warm Florida sun is shining down on Louie. Love you all. Deepest sympathy to Aunt Billie and the entire Hildman family on the passing of Lou. He now has his wings and is flying with the (Blue) Angels.
