MARIAN W. HENDRIX
1922 - 2010

Marian W. Hendrix, age 88, of Pensacola, FL, died Monday, May 31, 2010 at her home. Marian met Julian Hendrix in Jackson, MS, they married in 1948, and moved to Pensacola, FL in 1950 from Columbia, SC. Marian worked as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Hospital for 17 years, until her retirement in 1986. She volunteered at the hospital after her retirement in the surgical waiting room.
Marian was a member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 50 years, and taught the 3rd grade Sunday School Class in the early to mid 1960s.
She also enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, David and Jessie West; her husband, Julian Hendrix; a younger brother, a younger sister, and two older sisters.
She is survived by her son, John Hendrix of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Jessica Simmons of Key Largo, FL; step-daughter, Lucia Ward of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Hwy., Pensacola, FL. Interment will follow in Bayview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reading First Foundation Inc., 3345 Adrian Rd., Pensacola, FL 32504.
