Randel Turner Obituary

Randel Ned Turner

Randel Ned Turner, age 84 of Laurel Hill, FL, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011. Ned, a native of Florala, was born on July 1, 1927. Ned graduated from Covington County High School and after graduation, served in the Navy for 2 years during World War II. After attending Troy State College, Ned married Bobbie Faye Foreman of Paxton. In 1949 they moved to Pensacola where they resided for over 40 years. Ned retired from Monsanto in 1985 after 33 years and in 1990 he and Faye moved to Laurel Hill.

Ned loved nature and instilled a love of the great outdoors to his family. He was a pioneer in the early days of scuba diving and throughout his blessed life enjoyed fishing, boating, deer and turkey hunting, carpentry, reading, and maintaining the 120 acres in Laurel Hill. He especially enjoyed Faye's good cooking. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and grandfather and got the greatest pleasure from spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren.

Ned is preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Ethela Turner of Florala, and son-in-law, Paul Patton of Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Faye Turner; daughter, Ann Montgomery and son-in-law, Bob Montgomery; daughter, Linda Gaye Patton; grandchildren, Sarah Patton and Brandon Patton; brother, Jerry Turner and sister-in-law, Magdalyn Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation with the family was held on Monday, Dec. 19th at Evans Funeral Home in Florala from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with a short service following at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to First Baptist Church Florala in memory of Ned Turner.
