MARVIN L., M.D.
Age 91, at his home in Phila. on January 29, 2018, from the effects of Parkinson's Disease. He was a respected internist and faculty member of the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for almost 50 years. Survived by his wife Ruth (nee Hutton), daughter Dr. Katie Sachs, son-in-law Daniel Kubiak, grandson Dylan, sister Ruth Meislin, brother Dr. David Sachs, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. After high school in his hometown of Allentown, he graduated from Yale University and Harvard Medical School. He served as a physician in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. He then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Penn, where he remained for the rest of his career. He was involved in research studies relating to vascular and thyroid disease, as well as hospital design, but his greatest satisfaction came from taking care of his patients, who appreciated his thoroughness, kindness and dedication.
Funeral Services will be held at BACHMAN, KULIK & REINSMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1629 Hamilton Street, Allentown, on Thursday, February 1st at Noon followed by burial at Sons of Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the late residence on Friday, Feb. 2nd from 1 to 5 P.M.
