I worked for Ed at Hoffman Surgical back in the 80's. He was not only a talented businessman, but a fine person as well. He treated everyone with respect and dignity...a real blessing for a 20something who was new to the business world. I guess I thought he would go on forever. I am deeply sorry for your loss, and pray that the Lord will comfort you and keep you close to Him.

Mr. P meant a lot to me. I will miss him dearly. He, my father and I shared kindred spirits for car racing and our times together at the track were special.
One of my favorite Mr. P lines was "man that car has some poop down the straights" and only Mr. P could say the word "poop" so that you knew that it meant that the car had some serious horsepower.
In the 1980s we made an annual pilgramage to the SCCA Runoffs at Road Atlanta - we'd fly down, rent an econobox and see how fast we could get it to go on our way to the track (usually around 115 downhill). Mr. P enjoyed getting into the local culture. One year at the Runoffs, he was intent on getting a denim shirt to fit in with the locals. We went to a store near Road Atlanta and, despite my father's snickers, he bought one with a rose made out of sequins on it - he wore it proudly all weekend. After a day in the cold at the track we would always have a nice dinner together where we would warm up and recount the day's action and some of his racing battles in the 60s and 70s with my father. Those stories are forever etched in my memory.
When I got my driver's license, Mr. P lavished his trust on me by allowing me to drive his cars when he traveled. When I was 17 he gave me the keys to his Porsche 928. I showed up to a high school clam bake with it and gave my classmates high speed rides - they still recount them at reunions.
When I started racing he helped develop the car and improve my driving - "stay out until your laptimes stop improving" or "let the car drift all the way to the edge of the track" he would tell me. Whenever I was with him - I had joy in my heart - he made those around him happier with his joie de vivre. I am glad that we were to able to reward Mr. P's trust in and effort with me by becoming the fastest F Production car in the NE Division in 2011, setting 2 lap records.
I am thankful to have a special "uncle" like Mr. P who bestowed his generosity on me.
I am wishing the Parlett family peace in your time of sorrow but also joy in knowing that Mr. P lived life to the fullest.

I will always remember and cherish the times spent with Ed in business, discussing life and his teaching me the sporting clays. His spirit and entreprenurial attitude along with his love of family and friends will be a lasting wonderful memory. May his memories be a comfort to his family until eternity.

Bobbi and Amanda,
I had the pleasure of working with your father throughout the 1990s while I was president of Narco Medical Services (another Air Shields distributor). What I remember most about Ed was his positive energy, great business acumen, integrity and enjoyment of life. Ed certainly enjoyed business, but he often spoke lovingly of the two of you during our occasional business trips together and the one time I visited your home, it was clear to me that your dogs were a loving part of your family too! I'm glad that I had the opportunity to get to know Ed and wish you peace during this difficult time.
