DR. JOSEPH A., 72, of Alloway passed away on November 5, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, Dr. Zeccardi was the son of Alfred and Rosary Zeccardi. After graduating from LaSalle High School, he went on to Villanova University where he received his undergraduate degree in Biology. Afterwards, he attended Temple Medical School. He started his career in pediatrics at St. Christopher's and eventually became board certified in emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine as well. For twenty-five years, he was the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. During this time, he also oversaw the operations of the Philadelphia EMS. Sometime after leaving Jefferson, he began working for the South Jersey Hospital System overseeing their emergency room operations at all four of their hospitals, Elmer, Bridgeton, Vineland and Millville. Along with his family, Joe very much enjoyed cooking and travelling as well as overseeing the work done in the garden.
He is survived by his best friend and life partner of many years, Dr. Steven Glass; his son, Jacob Glass; brothers, Frederick Zeccardi (Bernice) and Edward Zeccardi (Dawn) and sisters, Marina Hibbert (Ross) and Rosemary Zeccardi. In addition to his parents, his son Matthew Glass and a sister, Nancy Zeccardi, predeceased him.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 64 Broad Street, Woodstown, NJ 08098. Steven and Jacob will be available starting at 12 P.M. to greet anyone who wishes to stop by and pay their respects with the service following at 2 P.M. Following the service as well as on Tuesday, November 13, the family will be receiving anyone who wishes to stop by their home to pay their respects. Interment is private and at the convenience of the family. The family has suggested that donations should be made in Dr. Zeccardi's memory to the Thomas Jefferson University, Department of Emergency Medicine, 1020 Samson St., Suite 239, Philadelphia, PA 19107, ATT: Dr. Ted Christopher.
