SHANE MICHAEL, age 21, of of Rox. We were blessed to receive Shane into our family on Aug. 29, 1993 and will miss him forever. Shane is loved by many people including his Mom and Pappy, Karen (nee Verbrugghe) and Kevin Montgomery and his brother, Thomas LaCorte. Shane shared a special relationship with his Nana Mary (Verbrugghe) and his late grandparents, Judie and John Montgomery and late Uncle Kenny. He will forever be cherished by his uncles Arte, Pat, Frederick; his god-father, Kevin and his aunts, Marianne and Chatty; closest cousins, Maureen and Timothy will always hold Shane close in their hearts. Shane was a 2011 graduate of Roman Catholic H.S. and a senior at West Chester Univ. Through his ability to laugh, sarcasm, flair for music, welcoming personality, love for the Eagles, Temple basketball and "Da U", Shane drew people onto himself. Many friends, other family members and those he encountered were blessed by his love of life. Family and friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday 5-9 P.M. and Friday 9 A.M. St. John the Baptist Church, 146 Rector St., and to participate in Shane's Funeral Mass 10 A.M. Int. Calvary Cemetery. To Shane's family,

I never met Shane, but my son Sean met him at West Chester University. Sean told me about a guy named Shane that was so friendly and introduced himself to my son. It went something like this. "Hey Sean, I'm Shane! Nice to meet you". It left a smile on my son's face as he told me about this really nice kid he had met. He said he was very outgoing!. I wanted to share this with you because Shane by al accounts was a super gregarious, outgoing and nice person. I jus wanted to le you know this. I had recently heard about the unfortunate passing of Shane. I am very sorry for your loss. Prayers to you.

I am another who followed your story since Thanksgiving morning and did not know Shane. I am a trauma nurse for 40 years and have dealt with death and dying in many many ways. I was - amazed - at the strength and dignity shown by Shane's mom. Most moms - during a time like this - would not be able to function. I watched - and knew - this mom was the driving force behind that - incredible - search effort and having it - constantly - in the news - and it never went away - until Shane - was found. The love of a mother has been known to do the impossible and this mom is now my hero. I could not believe her poise -you could just see that - NOTHING - was going to stop her from finding her son.
I am begging God to embrace this mother and the entire family to hold them tight and to never let them go - their loss was so great.

To Shane's family and friends I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not know Shane personally, but kept up with the search from day one. Seeing so many people come together to search and hang ribbons and posters all for Shane was truly remarkable. I can honestly say I am proud to be from Roxborough/Manyunk. Sadly the outcome was not what any of us wanted but God works in mysterious ways. Dear Montgomery Family,

I have followed this sad trail of Shane through the news and newspapers.

I could not bring myself to attend the funeral viewing and Mass because I would not been able to keep myself composed as I have a son a little older.

I did sit in my car along the Calvary Cemetery fence yesterday watching as Shane was brought home to God. So many cars, so many caring and loving people.

Watching the grave site full of friends, family and strangers and listening to the Irish Bagpipes brought tears and broke my heart.

No more cold, no more fear from where he was found.

He is WARM under the angels wings now and watching from above :)

God gave him his WC Diploma and there is a smile on his face.

My Dad happened to tell him once that he has a grandson named "Shane". After that, Shane used to call my Dad his "adopted grandfather". I am so sorry and heart broken over the loss of your son Shane. These past few weeks it feels like Shane became everyone's son. The community prayed for his safe return, then that he would be found and now for comfort and strength for you, his family.
