I have such fond memories of Barry as a HECA colleague and a friend. I think about how proud he was to tell me about his kids & grandchildren as well as business advice and suggestions to help me develop as a professional. Ever a twinkle in his eye, I remember the HECA social on a boat on Lake Erie. We laughed and talked and enjoyed a wonderful evening. My sympathies are with all of his family whom he loved so much.

On behalf of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), I want to express my deepest condolences to Barry's family. Barry was a wonderful member of our organization, was always willing to volunteer in any way possible, and added a positive spirit to our meetings. Personally speaking, Barry was one of the first people I met at my initial HECA conference years ago, and he was so willing to share his knowledge that he made me feel welcome and we became quick friends. We will certainly miss his smile, wit and sincerity.

It is with continued disbelief and profound sadness that I must accept the fact that Barry is gone. I don't know where to begin. Let's just say that this incredible human being set a standard that most of us would be hard-pressed to match. He was genuine, unfailingly solicitous, always on the lookout for the shy or socially uncomfortable whom he embraced and accepted with kindness and warmth and then introduced to us as his good friend.
I teased him often and sometimes without thinking yet he always had the grace and patience to gently chide me or simply smile and shake his head. I will miss him more than I can find words to express. May his family find comfort in the fact, as surely they knew, that their Barry was a gift, to them and to us all. God bless.

I am so saddened to learn of Barry's passing. He was one of the first IECA members to take me under his wing at my first conference in 2009. I always looked forward to spending time with him at IECA and HECA conferences and college tours. He was always insightful, eager to share tips, genuine and engaging. He became a friend and I will deeply miss him.

Barry will be remembered forever for his many kindness, his quick wit and his sense of humor, his great fatherhood and grandfather-hood and for all of the many, many students he helped at BCCC and in his second career. Barry set the bar highly. He was also one hell of a tennis player.

All of us in IECA, Barry's professional organization, are shocked and saddened. Stories have been pouring in to me all day of his graciousness in helping colleagues, his generous and warm spirit and numerous kindnesses. He will be missed by innumerable colleagues and the clients he has served, as well as by family and personal friends. I wish Jody strength that comes from wonderful memories.

I was so stunned and saddened to hear of Barry's passing. He was a true friend and IECA colleague. When I knew little about athletic recruiting it was Barry who graciously took me on as his pupil. We had such fun at conferences finding great restaurants to try with a group he would organize. He will be sorely missed for his wealth of knowledge, his friendship, and his personality that just drew people to him. Please know that you are all in my thoughts. Randye Falk (Maitland, FL)
