Louise Brabble Obituary

Louise A. Brabble

Norfolk - Louise Elizabeth Amos Brabble was risen on Easter Sunday, April 5, after a brief illness.

Louise was born in Roanoke, VA on May 16, 1914 and was very proud to have attained 100+ years. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward J. Amos and Annabelle Amos Hyde; her brother, Cecil Amos, and an infant sister, Nellie Amos. She was married at age 16 during the Great Depression to William Howard Brabble and they shared 57 devoted years together until his death in 1987. She was also predeceased by two infant grandchildren, David J. Patrick and Robert W. Davis.

Louise lived most of her life in Norfolk and worked for many years as a foundation and lingerie department manager, first at Rices Fashion Corner and then at Ames & Brownley, two premier department stores in downtown Norfolk. She delighted in sharing many stories of her work experiences and of her childhood, having been raised by her grandmother in the small town of Dendron, VA.

Louise is survived by two daughters: Peggy Patrick and husband Pat, with whom she lived for over 12 years, and Mary Ann Davis and husband Bill. She has four grandchildren, Molly Patrick Samuels (Mike), Larry Davis (Gayle), Cindy Davis Smith and Lisa Davis Collier. She has eight great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

At her request, there will be a private family graveside service at the Brabble family plot at Snowden Cemetery, Maple, NC, where she will rest peacefully next to her beloved Howard. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled locally at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ascension Catholic Church, 4853 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at:
