John Gilfoy Obituary

John Michael Gilfoy NORFOLK - John Michael Gilfoy, 50, went home to be with Jesus after a hard, courageous battle with cancer, the morning of Sept. 30, 2010. He was born Sept. 17, 1960 to the late Evelyn (Mahan) and Joseph Gilfoy in Worcester, Mass. Mr. Gilfoy was also predeceased by his grandmother, Arline Mahan. Left to pick up the pieces are children, Jennifer, Christopher and Angela; grandsons, Geoffrey, Aiden and a "yet-to-be-named" grandson due to be born Nov. 5, 2010. Also left behind are Robin Taylor and Mark Fisher, with whom he had made his home for many years; sisters, Debbie, Evelyn and Cheryl; brothers, Joey, Jimmy, Eddie, Tommy and Frankie; nieces, nephews and many close friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. in Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, with Chaplain Evelyn Lee officiating. A reception will follow. Online condolences may be made at www.FamilyChoiceFunerals.com. The family would like to offer its thanks for the wonderful, compassionate care extended by the staff of Chesapeake Home Care Services.
