Dorothy Green Obituary

Dorothy Elliott Green NORFOLK - On Sept. 30, 2010, our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away with her family by her side at her residence, the 9200 block of Capeview Ave., Norfolk. Born Aug. 17, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Dular Thomas Elliott Sr. and Minnie Pearl Thomas. She was first married to Rison "Dick" Graves Haynes who predeceased her, and later married her husband of 54 years, Harvey A. Green Sr., who died April 27, 2010. She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness and was also a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Harvey "Andy" Green Jr. and wife Cheryl of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Amy Conglton and husband Tom, Daniel, Jacob, and Lucas Green; great-granddaughter, Bailey Conglton; and caregiver, Tammy Pruitt. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a son, Archie Haynes; three sisters, Elizabeth Haymore Collins, Mary "Lucy" Jones, Thelma Powell; and a brother, Dular Thomas "D.T." Elliott Jr. A funeral in Norfolk will be held today, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m. at Oceanview Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. On Monday, Oct. 4, a funeral will be held in Danville, Va., at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Norfolk. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Green family. Online condolences at www.wrenn-yeatts.com.
