Adele Bruce Obituary

Adele Vann Bruce VIRGINIA BEACH - Adele Vann Bruce, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her, went to be with the Lord May 21, 2010. A native of Conway, N.C., she was born Dec. 18, 1919 to the late Elijah and Sadie Vann. Adele was a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church since 1942. She worked at Southland Cork and retired from Norfolk School System as a special needs bus driver. She delivered with Meals on Wheels for 13 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James M. Bruce; her daughter, Jacquelyn B. Linkenhoger; and brothers, Ivey Mason Vann, Laurie Vann and Charlie Woolard Vann. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Bruce of Virginia Beach; her granddaughter, Jennifer Linkenhoger Howell; two great- grandchildren, Colton Garrett Howell and Landon Thomas Howell of Eastman, Ga. Friends and family will be received at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Lawson and the Rev. Eslie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, 5220 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon- brown.com.

Sandy,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was such a joyfull person. I know my mom, Leona, always thought the world of her and your dad too. Like mom, she is no longer in pain and no more suffering either.
