Alyce Miller Obituary

Alyce B. Miller NORFOLK - Alyce Barnstead Miller died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born Jan. 22, 1942 in Boston to the late Robert E. Barnstead and Bessie Lambert Barnstead. She graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1959, and was a proud longtime resident of the Ocean View area of Norfolk. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert E. Barnstead Jr. and her granddaughter, Jade Miller. She is survived by her mother, Bessie Barnstead of Virginia Beach; and her three children, Dale Miller and his family of Corona, Calif., Douglas Miller and his family of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Diana Stafford and her family of Victoria, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Lynne Rush and family of Stanwood, Wash.; her sister-in-law, Margaret Barnstead and family of Leonardtown, Md.; her sister, Barbara Walker and family of Virginia Beach; her brother, Douglas Barnstead and family of Quitman, Texas; and her sister, Elizabeth Hansen and family of Prescott, Ariz. She is also survived by her devoted, long time companion, Ronald H. Harrison of Norfolk. Alyce's faith and her children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild were most important in her life. She loved living by the bay, watching its many moods and enjoyed drawing and painting local scenes. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
