Carolyn Garris Obituary

Carolyn H. Garris NORFOLK - Carolyn H. Garris, 74, went home to be with her Lord Sept. 28, 2010 in a local hospital. A native of Mount Vernon, Mo., she retired from Schultz & James Company as a secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk and the Shepherd's Bible class. Carolyn was valedictorian of the Norview High School class of 1954. She was a quiet, humble woman with a strong Christian faith. She enjoyed traveling with her family. She adored her husband and son. She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Garris; her mother, Nona F. Hammer of Virginia Beach; her son, Jeff A. Garris of Williamsburg, Va.; and a sister, Shirley Upton of Norfolk. She was predeceased by her father, Clyde E. Hammer. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dick Baker officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Carolyn H. Garris to Gideon Bible Ministry or to Norfolk Christian High School Fine Arts Department. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

I remember Robert and Carolyn from Norview High... it's been many years since then. I have thought of you both often over those years. My heart goes out to you Robert and your family. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.
