It was a pleasure to have met Mr. K. as I would call him. He told me that I was a wonderful teacher! I believed him. The Lord has a special angel back with him. I will never forget Mr. K. May God continue to bless his beautiful wife and family. P.S -I also Love his songs on the two cds that I purchased from him!!

I met Chris when we both were young teachers starting our careers. I have many fond memories of his legendary antics, particularly the jokes he played in the teachers lounge. It was impossible to be in a bad mood when you were around Chris! I know I am a better person for having know him.

Chris was a friend of mine from childhood. His mother was close friends with my mother. Chris was gifted with the ability to make people comfortable and always make you laugh. Vicki, many of us project sadness for things as trivial as a cloudy day or a loss by our favorite sports team. You and Christopher modeled how to grow in joy and faith, even while carrying a genuinely heavy burden. Sharon and I are so sorry for your loss, but glad that Christopher is truly, fully healed. I've spent the last 18+ years admiring you both from a greater distance, but with greater respect, also. Our prayers continue.

Vicky, Andrew, Daniel and families, We were very saddened to hear of Chris' passing. But we are also gladdened to know that he is no longer suffering. We grew up with Chris here in Oblong and he was in my class. We were so glad to get to visit with him at the class reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your boys. I pray that God will ease the pain of your loss and bring you peace.
I must share that Chris was always smiling, laughing and pulling a practical joke or two. He never let anything get him down. I admired that so much in him. I worked with him at Sherwood Forest for several years and he also married my daughter, Amber to my son-in-law Andrew Ungvarsky in September 2005. We all just loved him. I remember having the "stray" dog under my desk at work and he took him and gave him a home.....it was during the time of his last surgery and Chris told me that the dog never left his side during his recuperation......he also said that he was chewing up all his shoes and everything else in the house.
I left Norfolk Public Schools in May 2008 and went to work for Virginia Beach Public Schools and spoke with Chris a few times after leaving Norfolk. He always listened and gave me good advice. What a great mentor, counselor, and friend.
Keep all of the wonderful memories in your heart. Your memories can never be taken from you. What a relief to know without a doubt where Chris is right now.......he truly was a man of God and showed that every single day of his life. I always saw the joy in his heart.

Mr. K. meant so much to my children. They sat together on Friday night and shared memories of Mr. K. and his magic tricks, music, jokes, and ability to always make them feel better when they were sad. He was a blessing and will truly be missed.

Chris taught with me at Lincoln Trail Elementary in Mahomet, IL. I will never forget helping him put roosters in the principal's (Lee Jessup) office. It was a hoot! Chris was a great guy with an incredible sense of humor, a wonderful way with his students, and a blessing with his music. He will be truly missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mr. K. was a wonderful, amazing man of God. The students of Norfolk Public Schools will forever be changed by Mr. K. and his devotion to them. He loved his job and it showed daily. We had the pleasure of knowing Mr. K and will always remember how much he loved life. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Vicki, Andrew and Daniel, Your dad will never be forgotten by me as he was a huge testimony of the love of Jesus in very difficult years of my life. I use to cut your dad's hair years ago and sometimes he would bring you boys with him. Time has passed so quickly but it seems like yesterday that I cut his hair;. I went to school with Chris, class of "75" and also belong to the same church, Central United Methodist, in the only Oblong. It was a joy to grow up with Chris thru the childhood years.He was so witty, so smart ,and so sweet. One hopes to touch a few lives while on earth ,I am sure he touched thousands with his down to earth charm,compassion and faith.
