Clarence Whitley Obituary

Clarence T. Whitley WINDSOR - Clarence Thomas "Samie" Whitley, 79, passed away Dec. 31, 2010. He was born in Isle of Wight County the son of the late Telzie Carr Whitley and Clarence Edwin Whitley. He served his country in the Unites States Air Force. After a long working history he later went on to retire from the maintenance department at Gwaltney's. He was a member of Pine Grove Assembly of God. Clarence is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha G. Whitley; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Wangerin of Suffolk, Jackie and Don Carr of Windsor; grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon Graffam (Jay), Doug Nabors (Kate), Joshua Nabors (Mandy), Jacob Tynes, Kristy Bryant (Adam), Thomas Steele Carr (Haley); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, Brady Graffam, and Braydon Bryant. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with Pastor Kevin Payne and Thomas Steele Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Pine Grove Assembly of God now known as Living Hope Community Fellowship at 10001 Firetower Road, Windsor, VA 23487. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
