Diane Meads Obituary

Diane M. Meads CHESAPEAKE - Diane M. Meads, 46, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Diane was a trainer in the Retouching Dept. at Lifetouch NSS. She was involved in many organizations: People Helping People cancer support group of the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, H.U.G.S. Help, Understanding & Group Support, Hampton Roads Dachshund Meet up Group, Lifetouch Relay For Life Committee. Diane had an immense love for rescued animals and was dedicated to many organizations to support them. She also loved to travel, go to flea markets and fish. She was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, the M&M's characters, Furskin and Coca-Cola Bears, and the M&M's Racing Team. Diane is survived by her husband David and their "babies;" their dogs, Oprah and Woody, and their cats Lucky and Tigger; her parents, James W. and Georgia Woodworth of Norfolk; five siblings, Frank Randall Marino of Orlando, Fla., Elizabeth Ann Smith and her husband Kenneth of Norfolk, James W. Woodworth Jr. and his wife Pam of Virginia Beach, Mary Poole and her husband Tony of Virginia Beach, and Raymond Charles Daigle and his wife Karen of Kings Mountain, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Charles and Debbie Meads of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law, Charles Meads Jr. of Miami Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Donna Murray and her husband James of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; other brothers and sisters-in-law. We thank everyone at CRMC, Delta Oncology and the Massey Cancer Center at VCU for their excellent care and support. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home and a celebration of life ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, with a graveside interment at Woodlawn Cemetery to follow the services. Contributions in lieu of flowers have been asked to be made in memory of Diane to the following organizations: American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452-1135; Norfolk SPCA, 916 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23504; K-9 New Life Rescue, P.O. Box 6427, Virginia Beach, VA 23456; Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue, P.O. Box 1148, Jackson, NJ 28527. Arrangements are being handled by Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
