Doris Vass Obituary
Portsmouth - Doris Jean Vass 78, of the 500 block Henderson Street, passed in her residence on January 5, 2012. Born in Portsmouth, Va., she was predeceded in death by her husband Richard Vass, Sr.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she was the Secretary of the church for 30 years and also a missionary. She was a member of the I. C. Norcom High School Alumni Association and Class of 1950.
Leaving to cherish her memory are three sons, Howard Vass(JoAnn), Larry Vass, Sr.(Wilma), Vincent Vass; nine grandchildren a host of great grandchildren. daughter-in-law Cynthia Vass, special friend, Rev. H. Edward Whitaker, in-laws, other relatives, and many special friends. She was predeceased by her son Richard Vass, Jr.
Funeral Tuesday 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Kelvin Turner. The interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, Va. Viewing will begin Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The family will be at the residence. The body will be in church Tuesday at 10 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham Street, Portsmouth, Va.
