E. Blanchard Obituary

E. Aloise Blanchard HOBBSVILLE - Ericsson Aloise Blanchard, 93, of the 600 block of Selwin Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 in Britthaven of Edenton. Mr. Blanchard was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Ericsson Grant and Carrie Ward Blanchard. For many years he owned and operated Blanchard's General Store in the Selwin community and later retired after more than 30 years of employment as an agent with Southern Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Warwick Baptist Church and its Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Doris Casper Blanchard; a daughter, Diane Blanchard Russell and a son, Richard D. Blanchard and wife Bertha, all of Edenton; two sisters, June Lenz of Northfield, Minn., and Euna Mae Hazlett of Quaker Hill, Conn.; a brother, Paul Blanchard of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Dean Russell, Ben Blanchard and Hannah Blanchard Jones; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Warwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Asbill. Burial will follow in the family plot at the church. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
