Emma Cuffee Obituary

Emma Cuffee
Portsmouth - Emma O. Cuffee, 90, peacefully transitioned from life to glory on January 31, 2012 at her residence, Carrington Place, encircling family. She was a native of Portsmouth, born to the late Rev. John Bishop McNeely and Mary Wilson McNeely on July 7, 1921.

Emma was a long-term member of the Zion Bethel United Church of Christ. She was a Missionary and Deaconess dedicated to the mission of her Lord and Savior.

Emma was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Cuffee; three brothers: Thomas McNeely, Edward Alphonso McNeely and John Bishop McNeely, Jr. of Portsmouth; four sisters: Helen McNeely (Portsmouth), Dorothy Law (Bronx, NY), Edna Clark, Rosetta Morgan, and Mary McNeely; each of Portsmouth. Emma leaves to cherish her memory three devoted sons: Richard A. Morgan, James Stanley Cuffee (Chloe) and Robert Lee Cuffee (Joyce) each of Chesapeake, Va.; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1213 Marco Drive, Chesapeake, VA. Viewing will be from 6 to 8pm on Monday, February 6 at Corprew Funeral Home.

A Victory Celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Zion Bethel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. D. A. Peace officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
