Etta McKnight Obituary

Etta M. McKnight CHESAPEAKE - Mrs. Etta Marie McKnight of Haywood Avenue, passed away Dec. 8, 2010. Born in Norfolk County to the late Louis Hanbury Sr. and Mary Blanchard Hanbury, she was the widow of Edward L. McKnight. She retired from C&P Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Communication Workers of America Local 2202 and the CWA Retired Members Club. She is survived by her daughter, Mickey Lovell and her husband Jerry; sister, Marion Trueblood; sister-in-law, Ruth Hanbury; grandchildren, Kimberly Armao and her husband Bill, John DeLeon and his wife Robin, Jimmy Lovell, Jeanne Wilson and her husband Tommy; great-grandchildren, Ginny, Ashlee, Caleb, Carsyn, Camrin, Carrie, Andrew, Shane, LeeAnn and Jeremy; great-great-grandson, Landon; special friends, Thelma, Amé and Kay "across the street"; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ginny DeLeon; brothers, Roy, Fletcher Jr., Durwood and Warren Hanbury; sister-in-law, Margaret Hanbury; and brother-in-law, Bill Trueblood. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home with Pastor Amos Eby officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend the service please visit her "Book of Memories" at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service and you may also leave a note to the family.

Most of my association with Marie was as a child as the youngest sibling of the Lovell Family. I will always remember her as a kind, sincere and cheerful person. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends.
