Francis Catlett Obituary

Francis H. Catlett VIRGINIA BEACH - Francis H. Catlett passed away April 9, 2010 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Francis was born Oct. 20, 1937 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, where he owned and was president of F&N Sales & Services Inc. He was a devoted businessman who was equally involved with his community. He joined the Little Creek Lions Club on April 12, 1966. Francis worked faithfully for the charities supported by Lions International for more than 40 years, particularly the Lions Eye Bank. He was a past Little Creek Lions Club president, Zone D and Region II chairman, and he served as District Level Lions Eye Bank Director and Chairman. He was honored by his home club and Lions International as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 1990. Francis received his 40th Year Monarch Certificate in April 2006. Francis was the perfect example of the Lions motto: We serve! Francis was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.B. and Mary Catlett, as well as his brother, Randolph Catlett. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma J. Catlett of Virginia Beach; two sons, Robert Vernon, (Dale) Catlett of Richmond, Va., and James Anthony (Susan) Catlett of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Lauren Catlett and Samuel Alexander Catlett; six nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends today, April 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where a funeral will be held Monday, April 12, at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Little Creek Lions Club. Friends may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.

Jim and I were so upset when aunt Urla called saying Francis had died.Jim and I both went immediately down memory lane back to when we all lived at the Shirley Duke apts on King street.
