Ida Saunders Obituary

Ida B. Saunders SUFFOLK - Ida B. Saunders, 88, daughter of the late John S. Anderson Sr. and Ida Walter Anderson, died peacefully at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Aug. 30, 2010. It was only 17 days after the death of her beloved husband of nearly 69 years, Arthur Saunders Sr. that Ida B. followed him to heaven where they will be together forever. Ida B. was born in Norfolk and attended Maury High School. She was a virtuous, kind and loving woman who loved her Lord, family and country. She wanted to be known as a Godly mother who loved her family unconditionally. As a young girl she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Burrows Memorial Baptist Church. After her marriage she worshipped at Calvary Baptist Church her entire adult life where she served as a children's Sunday school teacher and VBS worker for more than 50 years. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Warren of Courtland; her brother, Joseph Anderson of Ivor; sons, Arthur Saunders Jr. of Melfa and Tim Saunders of Carrollton; daughters, Paulette Smith of Suffolk and Lineta Witherow of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Lora Gregory, Eunice Curtis, Shirley Leigh; brothers, John Anderson Jr. and Walter Anderson. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation and love to all of you for your love, prayers, and acts of kindness during this difficult time and especially to caregivers Gail Sykes and Pearl Moore. A celebration of her life will be conducted by Dr. Philip Parker and the Rev. James Clark at Loving Funeral Home Churchland Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Loving Funeral Home.
