Joseph DelDonna Obituary

Joseph V. DelDonna VIRGINIA BEACH - Joseph Vincent DelDonna, 45, of the 1800 block of Eden Way, passed away Aug. 31, 2010 in his home after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Naples, Italy, he was a structural engineer with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) and a member of the ASCE. He is survived by his wife, Barbara R. DelDonna; his daughter, Sophia R. DelDonna; two sons, Matthew R. DelDonna and Jacob V. DelDonna; his mother, Rosa M. DelDonna and his father, Robert A. DelDonna. He is also survived by a sister, Marian L. DelDonna and two brothers, Paul A. DelDonna and wife Lisa and Anthony R. DelDonna and wife Tina. The family wishes to thank Virginia Oncology and specifically Dr. Burton Alexander, also the doctors and nurses at VCU/MCV for their compassionate care in addition to the staff of 4 East at Virginia Beach General. A funeral Mass will be conducted Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Father Cristiano Brito, O.S.B. officiating. The burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www. hollomon-brown.com.

We were all so sad to hear that Joe lost the battle, but we will remember him for his significant contributions to NAVFAC and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard during his career. He was a dedicated and skilled engineer, supervisor, and manager and a person of integrity and commitment.
