Katherine Pretlow Obituary

Katherine N. Pretlow CHESAPEAKE - Katherine N. Pretlow, 87, was promoted by God on Friday, June 4, 2010, to receive all that He had promised Him. Born July 12, 1922 in Norfolk, Katherine was a daughter of the late Lorie and Celia Stillman. On Feb. 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to John W. Pretlow in Norfolk. They were married for 68 years before John preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2009. Katherine worked for Norfolk Highlands school for several years. She was a member of Great Bridge Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, sewing, loved to dance but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Hill, Diane Dixon, Carolyn Walker; nine grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, John Everette Pretlow. Visitation will be held Monday, June 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the same location. Friends and family are invited to continue the celebration at 212 Britwell Drive, Chesapeake, following the service.
